Contact the Action Shooting Pits chair for details.
Dear WSC Members,
During the May session of the WSC Executive Board meeting, we voted, pursuant to Governor Baker’s announcement relaxing COVID 19 restrictions, to allow in person meetings to resume, but with a few clarifications.
First, the General Membership meetings will resume, effective June 7, in a “Hybrid” meeting format until further notice. This means we will run the meetings in the club house in person, AND via Zoom. The hybrid format will enable members to choose whether to participate in person or remotely via Zoom: whatever makes them feel more comfortable. Please note that if you choose to attend the meetings in person:
Secondly, individual Activity Chairs are to determine the specific COVID 19 practices for their individual disciplines. What this means is that each individual chair may determine how to conduct business in compliance with the governor’s orders while also helping to ensure the safe operation of their respective activity.
On a personal note as the officer in charge of running the General Membership meetings, I want to encourage people to be cautious as we begin the return to normalcy. I am fully vaccinated and I believe the vaccines are effective. But this is only my opinion based on the available data. I know that many of our members are not fully vaccinated and are not able to be for various medical conditions. I want you all to exercise prudent personal caution. If you are not fully vaccinated, either wear face coverings, or continue to exercise social distance.
This hybrid approach will take a little getting used to, especially for me. I am charting these unfamiliar waters same as you. I will send out the pre-meeting emails as I have been doing. I hope to have as many members involved in the running of the club as possible. It is YOUR CLUB. I am only your servant and I hope to do the best I can.
I hope to see you in person, or virtually, June 7, 2021.
AL PRESCOTT, WSC President
Please see WSC Indoor Range Chair Chuck Steinhauser’s letter of July 7th, and WSC President David Martin’s letters of May 21st and March 19th to the membership about changes being made to club operations to comply with State and Federal directions to reduce the rate of infection from the coronavirus pandemic.
The current changes are:
21-May’20: From today’s President’s Letter:
19-Mar’20: From today’s President’s Letter:
Despite these difficult changes, the Westford Sportsmen’s Club will remain open to members. Please take advantage of the club to get outside and decompress.
Remember while you are at the club to follow the guidelines for social distancing:
Thank you,
David Martin
President, Westford Sportsmen’s Club
The Westford Sportsmen’s Club 2021 membership renewal drive has ended. Dues were payable, and due at the beginning of January 2021.
Membership has been terminated for any member whose dues remained unpaid after June 30th unless prior arrangements for payment had already been made with the Membership Secretary. Membership can only be restored by the full interview process (including payment of initiation fees).
Prospective new members remain welcome to apply for WSC membership at any time during the calendar year.
We still have Life memberships available if you’re interested – no more renewal forms or sending payments in year after year. For more information, please contact the Membership Secretary.
The Action Pistol Committee will be holding an open house and introduction to action shooting on Saturday, August 28th. Come try out the ranges and see what action pistol is all about.
We will have two sessions with the first starting at 10:00AM, the second at 1:00PM. The sessions will be held on five of the bays at the same time, with a maximum of eight members per bay. This is to minimize members exposure and to practice social distancing. Bring your favorite hand gun, pistol or revolver, center fire or rim fire, and ammo. Sorry, no magnums, rifle caliber, nor .17 caliber can be allowed.
Registration for the sessions will be required, and is limited to members and their immediate family living in the same household. Please e-mail the Action Shooting Pits chair to sign up for one of the sessions, or if you have any questions.
