Both of WSC's Trap fields are open on Mondays in summer for Trap Team practice.

For our members on the Greater Lowell Trap League, this is a great time to get in practice in lighting situations similar to League evening shoots.

Set-up starts at 4:30PM; shooting starts at 5:00PM and at least runs until 6:30PM (but may close early if all the shooters on-site have finished).

Today's session will be held on the rifle range and Action Bays #1 and #3; which will be dedicated to Steel Challenge from 5:00PM-dusk.

Action Bay-qualified shooters can sign up on Practiscore to attend.

Fee: $5.00, collected at 5:00PM at the beginning of the match.

Please be sure to arrive by 5:00 pm at the Action Bay entrance to: check in, prepare your equipment, and attend the mandatory 5:45PM Safety Briefing which is a requirement to shoot. First shots will begin at 6:00PM; we estimate that we will finish shooting by 7:30PM, depending on the number of participants. We should be done packing up by 8:00PM

Caution: the event may be canceled in case of inclement weather. If so, the Action Shooting Pits chair will send EMail by 4:30PM. Absent your access to EMail, you may inquire by phoning him.

The results will be posted on WSC's Practiscore page by 9:00PM.

WSC sponsored Cub Scout Pack 95 newcomer welcome/model rocket launch at the field by the Trap House.

Pack 95 will welcome and orient new Scouts and their families. Then Scouts will assemble and launch model rockets.

Activities will run from 12:30PM-2:30PM. Participants should gather at the flagpole in front of the WSC clubhouse.

If you choose to attend the meetings in person:

  • If you have been fully vaccinated, no face covering is required.
  • If you have not been fully vaccinated, a face covering and/or social distancing is strongly recommended.

The monthly meal is: Homemade Lasagna, side salad, dessert, and a choice of drink - all for $5.00!
There is no guest speaker this month.

This is the first day that WSC's private game preserve is open for upland game bird hunting. It goes on hiatus during deer season, and finally closes for the hunting year on March 31st. Contact the Game Preserve chair for details.

All members must pass a Gun Skills Safety Review (GSSR) to gain access to the Indoor Range (via their WSC Proximity Cards). Proximity Card permissions are updated after the GSSR by the Indoor Range Chair. To attend, you must register by EMailing the Chair at least 3 days in advance.

A presentation for prospective members is held in the clubhouse. Indoor range is closed.

The meeting starts with the presentation, so please plan on being seated by the starting time. The meeting should last approximately one hour, depending on the number of applicants.

Qualifications for use of the Action Bays by club members, to ensure that participants can safely use a holster with a handgun and shoot safely.

In essence, there will be a written test, and you will be required to draw and fire from a holster and hit a target at thirty feet.

Requirements:

  • Center fire handgun in an acceptable caliber (see the rules)
  • Belt-style holster that completely covers the trigger guard of the gun
  • At least 30 rounds of ammo
  • Orange range card (see the CRO for replacement of lost cards)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Baseball-style hat
  • A digital/printed copy of the rules for reference during the test
  • A pen to take the written test

Full requirements are in the Action Bay Qualification Procedures.

The test is an open book 25-question multiple-choice which must be completed in 30 minutes. The passing grade is 84%, and requires great familiarity with the rules to finish in time.

Registration is required, to ensure that you can be notified of last-minute schedule changes. Contact the Action Bay Chair.

This is a qualification session for the Action Bays. Successful completion is required to gain access to the Action Bays.

All-day trap event - both fields reserved. Participation at the event is open to all members of the Amateur Trapshooting Association - both WSC members, and the public.

Targets only; $20.00 per hundred. Singles, Handicap, Doubles. No options, purses, or prizes.

$6.00 ATA and MATA daily fees apply. The shoot is sanctioned by the ATA, and scores will be entered into the ATA's official records. ATA rules apply. Entrants must be members of the ATA to participate; however, participants will be able to join the ATA at this event.

Lunch, coffee, and sodas will be available.

Management reserves any entry or to change the program or cancel the event at its discretion.

To volunteer help run the event (AM or PM) for annual work hours credit, or if you have questions, contact the Trap Chair or the ATA Doubles Trap League Liaison.
