The new card-operated gate opener is in operation. Dave Gilson has been issuing proximity cards to members. The card gives a member access to the gate, clubhouse and if qualified, the indoor range. If you did not pick up your card at meetings and handout events, it will be mailed to you when you renew your WSC membership for 2016.

Women members are invited to try out sporting clays at the next Sportswomen meeting on April 16 from 9:00-11:00AM. Our club is new-shooter friendly and is happy to bring more new women shooters into the fold. Meet in the clubhouse at 9:00AM and walk with us to the sporting clays area at 9:30AM. The Sporting Clays Chair will offer instruction and guidance as we try the sport out. You will learn about the course protocols, different shotgun sizes/gauges, actions, shooting strategies and which gun best suits which conditions. Bring your own shotgun or use one from the club; also, bring eye and ear protection. Each woman will need a box of shells which the club sells for $7 per box. RSVP to the Sportswomen Chair if you plan to be there so that we can have enough supplies for the group.
At the March 7th general membership meeting, a new Recording Secretary was elected unopposed to complete the remainder of the current two year term (ending 31-Dec’17). We regret that the prior secretary was unable to finish the balance of her term.

We had 40 hikers of all ages come out for the annual Forestry walk around the club property on Sunday, January 3rd. Some of us got to see two deer crossing our path. We aged one of the largest white pines on the property at 176 years old. It has a nick name of “The Witch”.
It was a little icy on the hike, but the group had a great time. Thank you to Bobby Silva for coming out and leading one of the groups. Thanks to all that participated. See you next year.
Thanks,
Norman Silva

The Westford Sportsmen’s Club entry in the Festival of Trees at the Westford Regency won second place! Proceeds from the sale of our tree will go towards the WSC Scholarship Fund.
Small game, bird and deer season opened in October and we need to all share the WSC grounds. During deer season, do not drive the dirt roads up into the Sporting Clays area beyond the first field unless you have work to do on the Sporting Clays course or you need to haul your deer out. If you are hunting by or past the Sporting Clays course, please park near the intersection by the first field without blocking any roads.
Hunting on the Sporting Clays range and in the Game Preserve is done as follows:
