The regular general membership meeting previously scheduled for Monday, February 2nd has been canceled. An EMail will be sent with more details, but it seems we’ll all have to get our beef stew from someplace else this month.
Junior Club .22 Shoot, Saturday, January 24th
The Junior Club is having a .22 Shoot at the Indoor Range on Saturday, 24-Jan’15 from 9:00AM to 12:00 noon. Guns, ammo, help and pizza are all free!
Along with target practice, we will also discuss the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp for 13-17 year olds. Last year’s attendees said they had a great time at camp and learned a lot; this year’s camp runs August 2nd through the 14th. WSC’s camp scholarship application deadline is 31-Jan’15.
If you are interested in bringing a Junior to the shoot, or applying for a camp scholarship, contact Elizabeth, the Junior Club advisor.
2015 Forestry Walk, Sunday, January 11th
Members and guests should meet at the club house promptly at 9:00AM.
This walk of the property line will be about 5 miles, in a little more than four hours – a leisurely pace. We hope to see lots of members there; it’s a great family event. Last year’s walk on fresh snow gave about 20 hikers spectacular views of the club property. The weather forecast is mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 20’s.
And stay tuned! We’re already planning the 2015 Fishing Derby and Open House. Meanwhile, for the walk’s details…

Open House, 2014
The open house was a great success this year.
Bear on Club Grounds, 18-Aug’14
On Monday, 18-Aug’14 we received a report that a few styrofoam archery targets had been found ripped up on the east 3D course, and we suspect it is the work of a black bear. There have been numerous reports of bears in Westford. If you encounter a bear, do not approach it and keep any dogs under control.
Reminder: Use of Sporting Clays Range
Targets and throwers on the sporting clays ranges behind the pistol and rifle ranges are not for individual use. The sporting clays range is only to be used during shoots organized by the Sporting Clays committee. Continue reading
Reminder: 2013 Work Assessments
If you didn’t accomplish your 2013 work assessment and did not pay the work assessment fee with your 2014 renewal (you know who you are) you have until the end of 2014 to pay that 2013 work assessment fee — otherwise, you will not be considered a member in good standing. Please contact either Dennis Morin, Mark Annese or Mike Onesty if you have questions.
