DJ, Raffles, Finger Foods and most of all helping two great people!
From Lisa: In March of 2017, after 40 years of diabetes, insulin and medications, we learned that Dave was in End Stage Renal Failure. His kidneys had failed.
So let’s help Dave & Lisa so they can focus on getting Dave well and not have to worry so much about the money. And to show them they aren’t in this fight alone!
We are asking everyone to donate a gas or grocery gift card for a minimum of $10 or make a $10 cash donation at the door! And if you can’t make it to the VFW hall that night, please consider contributing at Dave’s YouCaring.com fundraising page.
Lisa continues: In April, we visited Mass General Hospital and learned from the transplant team what this journey truly entails. We hadn’t anticipated multiple ER visits and copays in a matter of a month, the endless prescriptions, 7 hour trips to dialysis 3 times a week, specialist doctor visits several times a month, multiple surgeries and other expenses this would have. We didn’t anticipate that Dave would be mentally and physically drained from this as fast as he is and be unable to work.
We go to Mass General every few months and end up having to stay overnight because of the early time we have to be there. We have been blessed with a potential donor, and are awaiting to hear whether or not they are a match or can proceed with testing. We are anticipating medical expenses to continue to pile up and are doing the best we can to make it all work, that being said, when Dave is lucky enough to get a kidney, I’ll be out of work (covered under FMLA, but unpaid) for two or so weeks.
After the transplant, we will have to make weekly trips to Boston for 6 weeks, then biweekly for several months, then monthly, bi monthly, semi annually and just annually. Each trip will require another day out of work and likely, another overnight in Boston. We are asking for help, any help is greatly appreciated and will be used toward ongoing expenses related to Dave and his medical treatment.
