Membership in the Westford Sportsmen’s Club, Inc. is open to all persons at least 18 years old, without discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color or religion.
Membership Dues and Fees
New members pay a one-time initiation fee of $200. Normally applicants also pay their first year’s annual dues of $160. (Dues for seniors 65 and older are $80, spouses of members are also $80, and senior spouses are $40). However, as part of an ongoing special membership drive, first year dues are suspended for 2024!
Spouses never pay an initiation fee. Active members of the Junior Club, or regular participants in other regular club activities, are eligible for regular membership between ages 18-21 without the payment of the initiation fee. Those who were on active duty in the military at age 21 are exempt from initiation fee for 6 months after their release from active duty.
The Westford Sportsmen’s Club operates on a Calendar Year. Non-senior members are expected to contribute 4 work hours per year. This can be done by supporting a club activity, or helping out at work-parties or special events. Members may opt to pay $50 in lieu of work at renewal time at the end of the year. There is no work requirement for spouses or Senior members. Payments may be made in cash or by check (payable to “Westford Sportsmen’s Club”).
Membership Application Process
Prospective members must attend a New Member Presentation, run by the Membership Secretary of the club. After over a year of online teleconferences due to the coronavirus lockdown, in-person New Member Presentations have resumed at the clubhouse. The presentations are normally conducted at 9:00 AM on the 3rd Sunday of the month. However, always consult the web calendar before traveling to the club, in case the meeting has been rescheduled.
The New Member Presentation includes an Applicant Briefing slide show; please review that PDF of the slides before the presentation. The required names of two WSC sponsors may be obtained at the meeting.
Application forms are available online, and at the clubhouse during all meetings and special events. It is strongly suggested applicants bring a completed form with them to the meeting. (Please bring your application with you to the Presentation – do not mail it). The application form is a fillable PDF file. Not all PDF readers support form-filling; you may get the best results by using a recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader or an equivalent reader.
The New Member Presentation should last approximately one hour, depending on the number of applicants. No dues/fees are collected at that meeting.
After attending a New Member Presentation, all applicants must complete the process by attending a General Membership Meeting to be voted in by the general membership. The General Meeting starts at 7:30 PM, usually on the 1st Monday of the month (2nd Monday if the 1st is a holiday). If prospective New Members cannot attend the next General Membership meeting, their applications will be saved for one year or until they can attend a General Membership meeting. New Members are voted in early at the general Membership meeting, so please be prompt. Dinner is available at general meetings (the entrée changes monthly), so check the month’s calendar for the evening’s fare and consider arriving early to eat.
Only after being voted in at the General Membership meeting do new members pay their initiation fee.
