2 Trap Fields Open Trap Fields Open 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm July 2, 2023 Sunday afternoon trap, open to the public. Show up and sign up from 12:30PM-1:00PM. Trap continues to run until the shooters who arrived promptly have worn out themselves (and the scorers). This usually occurs by 3PM. So to get the most out of your afternoon, show up at the start of the session. Questions to the Indoor Range chair on range issues, or the Recording Secretary for facilities issues., Trap Team Practice Trap Team Practice 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm July 3, 2023 Both of WSC's Trap fields are open on Mondays in summer for Trap Team practice. For our members on the Greater Lowell Trap League, this is a great time to get in practice in lighting situations similar to League evening shoots. Set-up starts at 4:30PM; shooting starts at 5:00PM and at least runs until 6:30PM, if not sunset. Proximity Card permissions are updated after the GSSR by the Indoor Range Chair. To attend, you must register by EMailing the Chair at least 3 days in advance. 23 RESCHEDULED Action Bay Qualifications (PISTOL RANGE CLOSED) RESCHEDULED Action Bay Qualifications (PISTOL RANGE CLOSED) 11:30 am – 1:30 pm July 23, 2023 This is the July session of the qualifications for use of the Action Bays by club members, to ensure that participants can safely use a holster with a handgun and shoot safely. It has been rescheduled due to last Sunday's torrential rains. In essence, there will be a written test, and you will be required to draw and fire from a holster and hit a target at thirty feet. Requirements: Center fire handgun in an acceptable caliber (see the rules) Belt-style holster that completely covers the trigger guard of the gun At least 30 rounds of ammo Orange range card (see the CRO for replacement of lost cards) Eye and ear protection Baseball-style hat A digital/printed copy of the rules for reference during the test A pen to take the written test Full requirements are in the Action Bay Qualification Procedures. The test is an open book 25-question multiple-choice which must be completed in 30 minutes. The passing grade is 84%, and requires great familiarity with the rules to finish in time. Now you can experience a match without needing to qualify for the Action Bays. We are holding a demonstration match. Bring your favorite 9mm, .38 special, .40, or .45 ACP handgun, a case or holster, a couple of magazines or speed loaders, and a box of ammo or two. The mandatory safety meeting will start at 2:30PM. First shots will follow the meeting. There will be plenty of experienced shooters and Range Officers's on hand to answer your questions, and help you through the match in a safe manner. Please come out and join us for a great time!
