Rifle range

The club has a 25 yard handgun range and a 100 yard rifle range open to all calibers. The short (“handgun”) range has permanent target holders placed at 15′, 21′, 25′, 30′, 35′, 50′ and 75′ (berm at 85′). The long (“rifle”) range target holders are at 25yd, 50yd and 100yd (berms at 50yd and 100yd).

Normal operating hours are from 8AM to sunset, with the exception of Sundays, when no outdoor shooting of any kind is allowed before 1PM. Range rules are available here.

The club fields an indoor pistol league (.22 bullseye) team. For more information, contact the pistol committee chairman.

    Registration Required!!

    All members must have an Orange Card to use the outdoor ranges. Cards are issued after a safety briefing, given by the Outdoor Range Chair. To attend, you must register by EMailing the Chair at least 3 days in advance. Please follow the instructions in the Chair's response carefully.

    Note well: you must register to ensure that you can be notified of a last-minute schedule changes.

    Qualifications for use of the Action Bays by club members, to ensure that participants can safely use a holster with a handgun and shoot safely.

    In essence, there will be a written test, and you will be required to draw and fire from a holster and hit a target at thirty feet.

    Requirements:

    • Center fire handgun in an acceptable caliber (see the rules)
    • Belt-style holster that completely covers the trigger guard of the gun
    • At least 30 rounds of ammo
    • Orange range card (see the CRO for replacement of lost cards)
    • Eye and ear protection
    • Baseball-style hat
    • A digital/printed copy of the rules for reference during the test
    • A pen to take the written test

    The test is an open book 25-question multiple-choice which must be completed in 30 minutes. The passing grade is 84%, and requires great familiarity with the rules to finish in time.
