All members must have an Orange Card to use the outdoor ranges. Cards are issued after a safety briefing, given by the Outdoor Range Chair. To attend, you must register by EMailing the Chair at least 3 days in advance.
You will in response receive an EMail detailing when and where to meet. (Because of COVID-19, we will not be meeting indoors). Please read the EMail carefully and arrive ahead of schedule.
Agenda:
Receive safety briefing.
Travel to the outdoor pistol range (2 minute drive on the grounds from the entrance).
Adult GSB shooters with membership cards pay $12, non-members $15 - save $3 by joining GSB at registration ($10 for individuals, $15 for families). Under 18's shoot free.
The clubhouse upstairs will be running a cafe, so the indoor range is closed for the duration. Outdoor ranges should remain open.
All members must pass a Gun Skills Safety Review (GSSR) to gain access to the Indoor Range (via their WSC Proximity Cards). Cards are updated after the GSSR by the Indoor Range Chair. To attend, you must register by eMailing the Chair at least 3 days in advance.
Agenda:
- Meet in the clubhouse downstairs
- View a safety video
- Take a brief quiz on range procedures
- Demonstrate safe gun handling and usage
(Bring gun and approved target ammo)
Cub Pack leaders will assemble and tune up the Pinewood Derby track in the clubhouse second floor meeting room; then run some test races to make sure the software works and we have our livestream technique down. They will leave the track set up in the club house until race day.
The indoor range will be closed for the duration of this event.
NRA-certified instructors will teach NRA Home Firearm Safety, a nationally-recognized training course for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. At the successful completion of this course, students will receive a basic firearm safety certificate which satisfies the Massachusetts legal requirement for applying for a License to Carry firearms (or the Firearms Identification Card, which conveys fewer privileges).
A presentation for prospective members is held online. The MembershipSecretary must be contacted well ahead of time; he will EMail prospects with the teleconference info.
(Even though this meeting is not held in the clubhouse this month, the indoor range of course remains closed anyhow due to the coronavirus shutdown).
The meeting starts with the presentation of a slide show, so please plan
on being connected by the 9:00AM starting time. The Membership Chair
will go online at 8:30AM to help attendees connect to the teleconference.
It would be best to review the slides beforehand as well. The meeting should last approximately one hour, depending on the number of applicants.
