WSC Archery: Wood Arrow Making 1 - Shafts
Help us assemble some new club arrows, or begin making your own. This session will cover the basics of choosing and sizing shafts, straightening bent or curved ones, dipping in quick-drying shaft sealer, cutting to length, preparing ends for nocks and field points, and capping with paint or mylar wraps.
Once the shafts are tipped, nocked, and given a chance to dry, we'll have another session to personalize them with your own color stripes ("cresting") and fletching. You can buy your own feathers in any available pattern and color (3 Rivers is a good source online, or see Hunters' Rendezvous in Pepperell) or use my standard 5" shield feathers in red and white.
